Siti Kasim expresses gratitude after winning defamation suit, says it had no merit

PROMINENT lawyer Siti Kasim expressed gratitude and happiness after successfully winning a lawsuit filed against her by another lawyer.

According to her, the defamation suit was filed by lawyer Colin Andrew Pereira shortly after the 15th General Election (GE15).

“I was sued by another lawyer who claimed that I had defamed him. Those who know the background of this matter will definitely know what this issue really is. It all happened shortly after GE15," she said.

Siti, or her real name, Siti Zabedah Kasim, claimed that the suit was filed against her out of personal enmity.

"He even linked my defeat in GE15, something that is completely irrelevant to the defamation claim," she said.

Siti said that before filing the suit, the plaintiff had openly attacked her on Facebook.

“He attacked, provoked and belittled me. After being targeted many times, I used two harsh words against him, and that is the basis of his claim.

“Let me be clear: I was forced to face a completely baseless and futile suit, brought by someone who acted based on revenge and ego, not principles,” she said.

Siti admitted that the suit filed by Colin caused her stress.

“The amount of time, energy and money wasted in this process is truly difficult for me to express in words,” he said.

Therefore, she said, today’s court decision is considered a significant success for all parties, especially the lawyer representing her, Nik Elin Nik Rashid.

“Today, the court has made a decision. He lost. He was ordered to pay costs of RM18,500, including costs arising from his previous application, which also failed.

“A suit motivated by ego, not merit, should be dismissed,” she said. – May 20, 2026
