Human rights lawyer and activist Siti Kasim has taken a firm stand against online slander and character assassination, announcing that she will no longer remain silent in the face of malicious attacks. She has made it clear that those who spread false information or defamatory content about her will face legal consequences.

This new stance follows a recent incident involving an individual named Nornan Dasuki, against whom Siti has already lodged a police report. The complaint stems from a social media post that featured a doctored image intended to provoke ridicule and hateful commentary. Siti intends to pursue the case in court, hoping to set a precedent that deters others from engaging in similar behavior.

Siti linked this issue to the broader problem of cyberbullying, which she believes has reached alarming levels. She emphasized the psychological harm such online abuse can cause, pointing out that victims are sometimes driven to extreme outcomes due to relentless public shaming. According to her, such toxic behavior is disturbingly common and often fueled by baseless hatred.

She reflected on her previous approach, where she had shown compassion in similar situations—such as withdrawing a complaint against a young boy who had threatened her. However, after being advised by close friends to be less forgiving, she now believes that holding perpetrators accountable is necessary to prevent further harm.

The manipulated photo at the center of this latest controversy dates back to 2018. It originally depicted Siti with a friend’s pet dog and was later altered and circulated with malicious intent. Although the original poster had taken down the image after expressing regret, the photo had already been widely downloaded and continues to be shared to mock her reputation.

This incident followed a confrontation between Siti and former Pahang Menteri Besar Tan Sri Adnan Yaakob at the Kuala Lumpur Court Complex. The encounter led to a video that quickly went viral. Siti maintains that the footage was edited selectively, omitting important context that would have clarified her intentions. She believes the edited version was designed to spark public outrage against her.
