Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor hinted that the just concluded two-day State Assembly session may be the last before the coming state election.

However, the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Chairman remained tight-lipped about the dissolution date of the Assembly, which will automatically dissolve on Nov 11.

“That is about right (last State Assembly session), but I cannot give you the date now. Wait until we have decided, then we will call all our media friends to announce when it will be,” Hajiji told reporters after the State Assembly session on Tuesday.

“We have already held one or two meetings with the necessary parties. We will finalise this before we dissolve the Assembly,” he said.

He said the current State Government is formed by GRS and Pakatan Harapan (PH), adding, “What is clear now is that today’s government is GRS-PH. That is our foundation. We will see about the others later.”

He also spoke about his administration’s efforts to bring progress during nearly five years in power, pointing out various reforms implemented for public welfare, including social services, education, infrastructure and resolving legacy issues such as water supply.

“We have done our best for the people, although there is still much more we should do. There are still problems like water issues that we inherited from before, but today’s government has implemented and is implementing upgrades for water treatment plants to improve the State’s water supply,” he said.

Hajiji described the latest State Assembly session as an important platform to present the Government’s achievements throughout the term, noting that all the bills have been passed, including legislation on carbon, forests and land, as well as approval for additional budget allocations needed for administration and development until year-end.
