PENAMPANG: Police arrested six local men aged between 27 and 40 during a drug enforcement operation conducted at a café, entertainment outlets and a condominium unit in Penampang between Wednesday night and the early hours of Thursday, district police chief Supt Sammy Newton said.
He said the operation by the Penampang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division, with the assistance of its Kota Kinabalu counterpart, resulted in the seizure of 20.5 millilitres of suspected MDMA/psilocybin liquid and 5.41 grammes of suspected cannabis with a combined estimated value of RM480.
Sammy said initial investigations indicated one of the suspects was believed to have supplied drugs to several of the others arrested, leading to the detention of another suspect and a follow-up raid at a condominium unit in Nosoob where suspected cannabis was found and two more suspects were arrested.
He said urine screening tests found five of the six suspects positive for THC, while checks also showed several had previous drug-related records.
The case is being investigated under Sections 12(2) read together with 12(3), Section 6 and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, while Sammy said police would continue stepping up operations against drug trafficking and abuse and urged the public to provide information on such activities.
