Six charged with gang robbery of RM500,000 in Pasir Gudang

Six individuals, including a Pakistani woman, face charges over a RM500,000 gang robbery in Pasir Gudang, with multiple accused pleading not guilty in Johor Bahru courts.

JOHOR BAHRU: Six individuals, including a Pakistani woman, were charged in connection with a gang robbery involving RM500,000 in Pasir Gudang last month.

At the Sessions Court, Muhammad Syukri Mohamed Yusoff, 32, and Abdul Rahman Abd Rahim, 23, pleaded not guilty to gang robbery.

They are accused of robbing a businessman of RM500,000 in cash at a parking lot behind a bank on February 24.

The charge under Section 395 of the Penal Code carries a maximum penalty of 20 years’ imprisonment and caning.

A third accused, Emmirul Azim Samat, 30, pleaded not guilty to preparing for the same robbery.

He also denied a separate charge of possessing stolen property from the victim.

The stolen property comprised 100 RM20 notes, 152 RM10 notes, and five packages of RM50 notes totalling RM50,000.

Emmirul faces charges under Sections 399 and 412 of the Penal Code for preparation and possession.

Judge Mohd Zamir Suhaimee granted Muhammad Syukri and Abdul Rahman bail of RM8,000 each with one surety.

Emmirul was granted bail of RM18,000 with one surety under similar conditions.

All three were ordered to report monthly to police and refrain from contacting the victim or witnesses.

In a separate Sessions Court, Muhammat Rashid Ismail, 30, and Shameem Begum Abdul Said, 53, were charged with conspiracy.

Muhammat Rashid pleaded not guilty, while Shameem Begum, the Pakistani national, pleaded guilty.

Judge Datuk Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim set bail at RM12,000 for each accused with one surety.

The court scheduled April 8 for document submission and Shameem Begum’s sentencing.

At the Magistrates’ Court, Mohamad Taufiq Mohammad Jamil, 31, pleaded not guilty to possessing an imitation pistol.

The charge under the Firearms Act 1960 relates to an incident in Taman Damansara Aliff on February 27.

Magistrate Azureen Sahira Sauffee Afandi set his bail at RM5,000 with one surety.

The court scheduled the next mention date for Mohamad Taufiq’s case on March 31.
