Six hurt in Beluran mishap

BELURAN: A 40-year-old man was trapped in a Proton Saga while three children – aged 11, nine and eight – sustained injures after the car they were travelling in collided with a Perodua Viva at Simpang Muanad 3, here, Monday.

A woman and man, aged 40 and 44, who were travelling in the Viva were also injured.

Beluran Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) chief, Edoen Macheal, said they received an emergency call at about 1.10pm.

He said six personnel from BBP Beluran were rushed to the location 5km away from the station to help the victims.

On hand to assist were the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) and Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM).

Edoen said the victim who was trapped in the Proton Saga was rescued by the firefighters and later sent to Beluran Hospital using the APM Ambulance for further treatment.

The other victims also received treatment at the hospital.

The operation ended at 1.49pm.
