MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs seized some six kilograms of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 on Monday, January 26, 2026.
Acting on a tip, authorities inspected the passenger’s luggage upon arrival. A full physical examination of the luggage revealed 6,006 grams of concealed shabu with an estimated street value of P40,840,800.
Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said that the interception showed how intelligence sharing and joint operations are vital to preventing the entry of illegal drugs.
The passenger is now in the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
District Collector Yasmin Mapa emphasized that Port of NAIA personnel and partner agencies remain committed to preventing traffickers from exploiting airport facilities.
This operation marks the latest in a series of high-profile busts at the airport this month, following a P43.4 million cocaine seizure from a female passenger on January 22, 2026.
