Six Penampang, Tuaran schools remain closed

Kota Kinabalu: Six schools in Penampang and Tuaran were still closed on Tuesday for cleaning work after the floods, said State Education Director Datuk Raisin Saidin.

He said a total of 2,659 students and 194 teachers were involved.

“Schools in Penampang that are still closed are SM St Michael, SK St Theresa Inobong and SK Kibabaig.

“In Tuaran, the closed schools are SK Kauluan, SK Bawang and SK Lingga Baru,” he said.

Read more He added that all the schools were currently in the process of cleaning, causing them to be unable to operate following the flood disaster that occurred since Sunday.

On Monday, a total of 10 schools from four districts, namely Penampang, Tuaran, Sipitang and Papar had to be closed due to the floods.

Meanwhile, State Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan invited youths in the State to join in helping to clean SK St Theresa which was badly affected by the floods.

Through a poster shared on his Facebook page, the joint cleaning effort was scheduled to start at 9am on Tuesday.

“Come on youths in Sabah to help clean SK St Theresa Inobong, which was badly affected by the flood disaster,” he wrote.
