SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 - Six districts in Selangor are expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds until 10 am today, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia).
The affected districts are Kuala Langat, Sepang, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Klang and Hulu Langat.
METMalaysia said similar weather conditions were also expected in several areas in Perak, Terengganu and Negeri Sembilan, as well as Putrajaya and Melaka.
In Perak, the affected areas are Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Manjung and Perak Tengah, while Dungun is affected in Terengganu.
In Negeri Sembilan, the warning covers Port Dickson, Seremban and Rembau.
"A warning is issued when there are signs indicating thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour that are occurring or expected to persist for more than an hour.
"Thunderstorm warnings are short-term warnings valid for no more than six hours for each issuance," it said in a statement today.
People in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant, avoid outdoor activities and keep abreast of the latest weather updates issued by METMalaysia.
