Kota Kinabalu: A total of six coaches and 10 athletes from the Sports School Malaysia Sabah here have been included in the Malaysian Sports Project Programme (Sukma) 2024.

It was announced by Youth and Sports Minister Datul Ellron Angin during his working visit to the school on Thursday.

He urged the 203 local students who are currently involved in swimming, diving, weightlifting, football, hockey, archery and athletics at the school to train hard, be disciplined and avoid any unhealthy activities. He also revealed that training centres for archery and weightlifting have been set up under a joint special programme with the school.

He added that the ministry through the Sabah Sports Council had assisted the school in sending archers to participate in the National Youth Archery Championship in Kelantan and weightlifters to the Thailand Sports Games this year.

Meanwhile, all the local students at the school were also given some financial aids by the Ministry presented by Ellron.

Also present at the visit were assistant Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan, the ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Mansur Asun, Sabah Sports Council director Asneh Mohd Noor and the school’s principal Madsarin Rahim.
