
THE sixteenth child witness, who is also the twenty-fifth witness overall in the inquest into the death of Form One student Zara Qairina Mahathir, continued to give evidence at the Coroner’s Court today. The witness, accompanied by their mother, began testimony last Thursday and remained under questioning by lawyers in a closed-door hearing presided over by Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
According to the case management team contacted by RTM, the proceedings today are also expected to feature the seventeenth child witness, who will become the twenty-sixth witness in the inquest.
Separately, last week saw the pre-trial case management (PTCM) for five juvenile defendants charged with insulting the late Zara during the inquest. The accused are identified only as Student A, B, C, D, and E in court documents.
The presiding judge, Elsie Primus, has set the trial dates for these charges from 8 to 19 December 2025, slightly advancing the original schedule of 9 to 20 December 2025. - October 21, 2025
