Today kicks off the beginning of the new school session, and the school is already making history as they announced that they are now opening their doors to female students.

According to Selangor Journal, Dr. Mahadevan Deva Tata, the chairman of the school’s Board of Governors, expressed that the admission of the 10 girls was a long-awaited initiative. This decision was prompted by the declining number of pupils observed over the past five years.

He added,

“Usually, there are over 100 Year One pupils, but for the past five years, it has decreased to about 70. The former headmaster wanted us to do something because we don’t want this school to close down due to a lack of pupils. We need to make changes before the situation worsens.”

Initially, there was a considerable interest in registering for Years Two and Three. However, the school is currently only accepting registrations for Year One.

Headmistress E. Margret added that the girls account for approximately 10% of the 102 Year One students this year. However, she noted that their percentage is expected to grow in the future.
