SKDS opens diesel subsidy applications for new transport sector

PUTRAJAYA: Applications for diesel subsidy registration under the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) for the new Land Transport (Private Company – Jeeps and Pick-up Trucks) sector opened on Friday.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said subsidy eligibility for the new sector will take effect on July 15, subject to application approval and ownership of a fleet card, with the initiative aimed at assisting micro and small businesses operating as sole proprietorships and partnerships.

He said eligible business owners must register their vehicles as commercial vehicles under the Private Company Use Class/Code (AE) in the Road Transport Department’s MySikap system, while their businesses must also be registered as sole proprietorships or partnerships with the Companies Commission of Malaysia or the relevant local authorities in Sabah and Sarawak.

Armizan urged eligible business owners to apply through the MySubsidi portal as soon as possible, adding that the inclusion of the new sector expands SKDS coverage to three sectors and increases the total number of eligible vehicle types and usage classes to 35.

He said diesel subsidies are also provided through BUDI Diesel, BUDI Agri-Komoditi and the Fishermen’s Diesel Subsidy Scheme under the respective ministries, while SKDS is managed by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living and provides subsidies to eligible business entities, companies and cooperatives through a fleet card system based on fixed quotas.
