KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government remains focused on human capital development to drive its economic agenda, particularly in unlocking the growing potential of the blue economy.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, through a speech delivered by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam, said the State must equip its people with relevant skills and knowledge to keep pace with global economic shifts.

He said RM848.26 million has been allocated for education initiatives from 2021 to 2024, benefiting nearly 246,000 recipients across several schemes including state scholarships and Yayasan Sabah programmes.

Hajiji praised HRD Corp’s success in training over 61,000 workers last year and said events like Skillfest 2025 are crucial for preparing Sabahans to seize opportunities in marine tourism, aquaculture, ocean energy, and blue tech.
