Skim Mesra: 50,000 new slots open starting tomorrow

SHAH ALAM, Sept 16 - The Selangor Government will open 50,000 new registration slots for the Skim Mesra programme starting tomorrow, with eligible recipients set to receive an annual RM150 incentive from 2027.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the assistance is targeted at two groups; senior citizens aged 60 and above and persons with disabilities (OKU) in Selangor.

Anfaal said applications would be open online from 8am on September 17 through the official Skim Mesra portal of the Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (YAWAS).

“Applications are open this year, while the distribution of benefits will begin in 2027,” she said.

She said the financial incentive would be credited during recipients’ birthday month as a gesture of appreciation from the State Government towards these groups.

“Registration is open specifically to Selangor residents who meet the stipulated eligibility requirements to ensure the benefits can be distributed fairly and equitably,” she said in a statement.

For the senior citizen category, applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 60 and above, registered voters and residing in Selangor.

For the OKU category, applicants must hold a valid OKU card issued by the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and be Malaysian citizens, with no age limit for registration.

OKU applicants aged 19 and above must be registered voters and reside in Selangor, while for those aged 18 and below, the same requirements apply to their mother or father.

Anfaal also added that the Selangor government remained committed to expanding its welfare and community empowerment agenda to ensure that no group is left behind in benefiting from Selangor’s progress.
