Kota Kinabalu: Several supermarkets and retailers increased the price of whole chicken by RM1 following the termination of subsidies and price control for the commodity effective Wednesday (Nov 1), a random Daily Express survey revealed.
On average, the price of a whole chicken had been upped from RM10.50 per kg when subsidies were given to RM11.50 per kg now.
Those who had yet to do so said they would act today (Thursday), while others have decided to delay such decision.
The difference was already felt in restaurants, especially shops selling chicken rice or Ayam Penyet, many of whom upped prices by 50 sen or decided to offer a lesser portion in order to please loyal customers.
