Liverpool manager Arne Slot laments lack of cutting edge after 0-0 draw with Leeds, despite 70% possession and an unbeaten run extending to nine games.

MANAGER Arne Slot expressed frustration after Liverpool’s dominance in possession failed to yield a goal in a 0-0 Premier League draw with Leeds United at Anfield.

The champions extended their unbeaten run to nine games following a poor prior spell of nine defeats in 12 matches.

Slot acknowledged his side’s performances have often not matched their recent improved results.

Liverpool enjoyed nearly 70% possession but sorely missed the attacking threat of the absent Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak.

“I think we’re the team that has the most ball possession in the league this year, but ball possession does not mean a lot if you cannot create enough chances,” said Slot.

He explained that breaking down a deep defensive block requires pace and individual moments of brilliance.

The Dutchman noted it was not the first time this season his team had struggled to find an opening against a determined, compact opponent.

A single point edges fourth-placed Liverpool three points clear of Chelsea and Manchester United in the race for Champions League qualification.
