KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Law Society (SLS) has welcomed the High Court’s decision to set aside a coroner’s earlier order in the inquest into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir, saying it reinforces public confidence in the system and underscores due process.
SLS president Datuk Mohamed Nazim Maduarin said the ruling affirmed two key points: the coroner’s recusal rendered her order unsustainable due to fairness concerns, and that SLS has the locus standi under its statutory role to act in matters of public interest.
He stressed that the society remains committed to safeguarding justice and ensuring the inquest process remains free from bias.
