SM: Over 2,400 shows staged at MOA Arena

SM Mall of Asia Arena (MOA) has staged 2,400 shows since opening in 2012 as it continues to position itself as a leading sports and entertainment venue, SM Prime Holdings Inc. said on Wednesday.

The property developer said that in 2025 alone, the 15,000-seat arena hosted more than 200 events and drew over 1.1 million attendees, up 10 percent from the previous year.

“These events reflect the strength of demand for large-scale, professionally managed venues in the Philippines,” SM Prime Holdings President Jeffrey Lim said in a statement.

“Our continued investments in our arena portfolio align with our strategy to strengthen our integrated developments, support tourism and deliver compelling live experiences to our customers,” he added.

The venue has staged performances by global artists such as Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Maroon 5 and BTS, while also hosting major events including the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship and activities for Miss Universe 2016.

To sustain long-term competitiveness, SM Prime said it had rolled out infrastructure and technology upgrades across its arena network.

Last year, MOA Arena completed a $2.1-million installation of a new center-hung LED system, aimed at improving visual clarity and production flexibility for both sports and concerts.

The upgrade also includes enhanced digital displays and entry systems to improve crowd flow, efficiency and security.

SM Prime is also expanding its footprint with the opening of the SM Seaside Cebu Arena in the second quarter of 2026, which is expected to boost access to large-scale events in the Visayas and support tourism and regional economic activity.

SM Prime’s share price was unchanged at P20.00 each on Wednesday.
