AS Malaysia prepares for the full rollout of e-Invoicing and a shift towards a digitally driven economy, the Wezmart Tax Budget 2026 & Digital Conference has called on small and medium enterprises to rapidly strengthen their digital and compliance capabilities.
The conference, which gathered more than 1,000 entrepreneurs and finance professionals, highlighted significant changes to the business landscape as Budget 2026 measures and mandatory e-Invoicing reshape how organisations manage their obligations.
In a statement, Wezmart said that tasks once seen as purely administrative have now evolved into “strategic drivers of growth”.
Technologies such as automation, analytics and AI-based decision support were identified as essential foundations for financial accuracy, operational efficiency and market agility.
“The participants also emphasised the critical role of data-driven strategies, including the use of customer insights and real-time reporting to enhance companies’ ability to grow and build sustainable confidence at the regional level,” the statement said.
A central theme was that business continuity in 2026 will depend on proactive transformation rather than incremental improvements.
“Digital efficiency has now become a key competitive advantage, with AI-enhanced reporting and market intelligence reshaping how organisations operate in the post e-Invoice era,” it added.
Strengthening compliance through digital workflows, using AI to reinforce branding and deploying data-driven decision-making were deemed critical to sustainable expansion across ASEAN.
Wezmart Group Chief Executive Officer Yee Chee Mun underscored the message, saying SMEs must “start small, move fast and build the capacity to adapt”. - November 14, 2025
