KOTA KINABALU: SMJ Energy Sdn Bhd has declared and paid a RM50 million dividend to the Sabah State Government for the financial year ended Dec 31, 2025, underlining its growing contribution to the State’s oil and gas-linked revenue.
The latest payment lifts total dividends to RM160 million since 2023, more than tripling Sabah’s initial RM50 million seed investment in the company within three years.
SMJ Energy reported an audited profit after tax of RM307 million, with group assets standing at RM4.9 billion in 2024, reflecting steady expansion across upstream, LNG and petrochemical interests.
Chief executive officer Datuk Dionysia Kibat said the performance was the result of disciplined operations and careful financial management, noting that the company ended 2025 on a stable footing.
“We’re proud to close 2025 on solid ground, and this dividend reflects our strong cash flow position and our commitment to ensure Sabah benefits meaningfully from its own resources,” she said, adding that the AAA-rated company remained focused on long-term value creation.
