PAPAR: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the State Government continues to adopt an aggressive approach to eradicating hardcore poverty in Sabah.
He said that through the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) Secretariat, the government offers suitable employment to household heads (KIR) or members living in hardcore poverty, involving several government agencies and private companies.
Hajiji said that this positive measure, which he described as a migration process, has successfully reduced the number of hardcore poor KIRs in Sabah from 22,510 to only 5,379.
"The State Government is determined to lift them out of the poverty line. We will continue this aggressive approach to end the issue of hardcore poverty in Sabah, God willing," he said at the State-level Ma’al Hijrah 1446H/2024M celebration at the Papar Community Hall on Sunday.
