The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) as a general-purpose technology is poised to transform work across a variety of industries & job roles. While previous technological shifts largely enhanced productivity & wages for white-collar workers but led to displacement pressures, AI may disrupt both. This disruption requiring enhanced workforce training efforts, it also presents opportunities to address some systemic challenges in workforce development.
Recognizing the importance if AI and the timely workforce training, human resource (HRD) practitioners, scholars and consultants locally and worldwide flocked at University of Cyberjaya (UoC) Malaysia for 2 days (8-9 August) to participate in The Asia HRD Congress 2025 themed ‘The Learning Platform: Global Vision, Asian Insights’ focusing on ‘Workforce Agility in the Era of AI'. They are mindful that the present needs of AI training is moving towards greater personalization, automation & integration with immersive technologies. Ai is expected to revolutionize how businesses deliver training, making it more efficient, cost-effective. Additionally, AI is used to analyze data, create personalized learning paths and assess the effectiveness of training programs. (congress@smrhrgroup.com; hrdcongress, com)

I am grateful with my long-time friend, Tan Sri Dato' Dr. R. Palan, a renowned thought leader, enterprising educator with over four decades of in human capital development who is the founder of SMR HR Group and UoC Pro Chancellor for inviting me to participate in this AHRD Congress. He started this congress initially as Trainers-Meet-Trainers (TMT) conference in 1985 on a complimentary basis helping people learn & network to share best practices.
I learned from the international speakers and participants that “It's crucial to address ethical implications surrounding AI in training, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias & the potential for job displacement.” As such, I believe the successful implementation of of AI in training requires collaboration between L&D professionals, technology experts & educators. Concurrently, the reskilling & upskilling initiatives are essential to prepare the workforce readiness.
