
SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (MPF) here seized cosmetic items worth about RM50,000 believed smuggled into the state via Pulau Larapan waters on Sunday.
The seizure was made following an inspection on a suspicious boat at about 8.50pm in the area.
Sabah Region Four MPF Commander, ACP Ahmad Ariffin, said the boat was spotted moving in a suspicious manner during Op Taring Gelora.
“The team tried to apprehend the boat but it sped towards the shallow area. The team continues to pursue the boat and found it abandoned,” he said.

He said seizures including the boat were worth about RM60,000.
“The seizures were taken to Semporna MPF base for further action.
“The case will be referred to Tawau Pharmacy Department for further investigation under Control of Drugs and Cosmetic Regulations 1984,” he added.
