PETALING JAYA: The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (Kuskop) is in the midst of rating social enterprises in the country, said its Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick.
He said, the rating aims to certify the status of a social enterprise to gain access to various supports and greater opportunities to expand their businesses.
"The Ministry implements two types of rating which are the Basic Social Enterprises and the Accredited Social Enterprises,” he said after visiting the Infinite Minds Academy, here, Sunday.
"Basic social enterprises must meet the description of social enterprises in force in Malaysia and have at least been in operation for six months.
“These enterprises must also be encouraged to deal with social and environmental issues.
"Accredited social enterprise is a follow-up rating for enterprises that have been operating for at least two years and have social and environmental impact measurement reports..”
He added, the Ministry also provides development allocations of social enterprises that have been rated including for the Social Entrepreneurship Basic Course.
