KOTA KINABALU: All 2.7 million Sabahans are now automatically covered under the Sabah Group Personal Accident Scheme, the state’s first social security initiative introduced by the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government.
Finance Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the RM50 million scheme, launched Friday at SICC, offers global coverage and benefits, including RM10,000 for accidental death and up to RM20,000 for permanent disablement.
Sabahans aged 30 days to 80 years with MyKad or MyKid bearing state codes 12, 47, 48, or 49 are eligible for the coverage, which runs from May 1 this year to April 30, 2028.

Masidi dismissed claims of political motives or profiteering, stressing that the scheme serves all Sabahans equally and urged grassroots leaders to spread awareness, especially in rural areas.
