BEAUFORT: The Social Security Organisation (Socso) issued nine compounds totalling RM8,500 to employers who failed to comply with Socso directives during inspections conducted as part of Ops Kesan, which commenced on July 10.
Socso Manager for the Beaufort Office Area, Rizal Jamalludin, said the operation aims to identify employers who have not registered their workers in the districts of Beaufort, Kuala Penyu, Sipitang, Menumbok and Membakut.
The operation will continue until July 31.
Rizal emphasised that Socso’s primary focus is ensuring worker welfare and protection.

Read more He reiterated that all employers, regardless of the number of employees or salary amount, are required to register their businesses and workers in accordance with Sections 4 and 5 (Act 4), and Sections 14 and 16 (Act 800).
“Employers who fail to contribute to their workers face action with fines of up to RM5,000, as stipulated in the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 and the Employment Insurance System Act 2017,” Rizal said.
He added that non-compliance with registration requirements within the specified timeframe could result in penalties of up to RM10,000, two-year prison sentence, or bothm upon conviction.
Rizal urged all employers, including those in the formal sector or employing domestic or foreign workers, to promptly register and contribute to Socso.
This can be done online through the Assist Portal, by visiting the nearest Socso office or through the official website www.perkeso.gov.my.
