SIPITANG: Sabah Oil and Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SOGDC) has signed a land sublease agreement with PFLNG 3 Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petronas, for the development of a new floating liquefied natural gas facility at the Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park (Sogip).
The signing ceremony, held on Thursday, was officiated by Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.
This marks Petronas’ second major investment at Sogip, following its ammonia and urea production complex already operating at the site.
The new shore-based FLNG project is designed to produce up to two million tonnes of LNG per year and is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the second half of 2027.
SOGDC said the project would help cement SOGIP’s role as a regional oil and gas hub while creating more opportunities for Sabah businesses and workers.
The agreements were signed by SOGDC Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Datuk Harun Ismail, and Petronas PFLNG 3 Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Azrul Roshazli Abdul Rahman.
