Kota Kinabalu: Kota Marudu MP Datuk Wetrom Bahanda declared full support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim amid talk by the opposition of plans to unseat the Unity Government again.

“I fully support the leadership of our PM as leader of the Government. He has the credibility and charisma to lead,” he said in a statement, Saturday.

Wetrom, who is Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) Deputy President, said Anwar could bring progress to the country.

“I’m sure our PM also works hard in fighting and thinking about efforts to overcome the problem of poverty.

He said the political polemic of threats to affect the Unity Government should stop because it would affect the stability of the country.

A group of Barisan Nasional (BN) MPs are said to be involved in a conspiracy with Perikatan Nasional (PN) to topple the current government.

FMT reported that 10 BN MPs intend to force by-elections to be held by leaving the party. They all previously supported PN Chairman Muhyiddin Yassin after the 2022 general election.

Member of Parliament for Sipitang Datuk Matbali Musah urged any political controversy that can affect the Unity Government led by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, be stopped for the sake of the people and the country.

He said the Federal Government is carrying out various initiatives but all of that requires political stability without interruption and the interests of both (people and the country should be prioritised.

He said the Madani government is also implementing several matters in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and some of the demands have already been implemented since Anwar took over the government.

“In the context of Sabah itself, we need stability to develop many aspects of progress and economy for the people because we are still far behind compared to the peninsula.

“Sabah is still lagging behind in all aspects, whether it is road infrastructure, not to mention other things. If you want to comment there is a lot more, so we need a stable government.

“Therefore I hope no party tries to damage this stability because the current government is clearly very concerned on the needs of the people,” he said, during the Lumadan State Legislative Assembly (DUN) and Sipitang Parliament Open House held in Mingo Town.
