KOTA BELUD: An estimated 20,000 people dressed in black gathered at the town field here on Thursday night to show solidarity over the death of Zara Qairina Matahir.

The event, which ran from 7pm to 9.30pm, saw participants chanting “Justice For Zara” while holding placards and banners.

Police officers were present to maintain order as more people arrived from districts including Kota Marudu and Kudat, representing all ages.

Attendees also signed a whiteboard and a Perodua Myvi with “Justice4Zara” messages, with bottled water provided free of charge.
