Insta360’s flagship camera lineup just got a new model, and it is the Luna Pro that is aimed at creators who want actual, great image quality without slowing down their workflow.
The new introduction is created in collaboration with Leica, as the Leica Summicron lens with a 1-inch 8K sensor provides strong detail capture capability and low-light performance for a device this size.
Under the hood, a Dual AI Chip setup combines a dedicated imaging processor with a 4nm flagship chip, handling the heavy lifting behind Luna Pro’s smarter shooting features. For anyone making short-form content, it supports native 4K30FPS vertical video with 6K oversampling for cleaner detail, and you can just rotate the touchscreen to flip between horizontal and vertical shooting on the fly.
It also records full 8K Dolby Vision footage for richer color and dynamic range, plus slow-motion options up to 4K120FPS and 1080p240FPS. Zoom gets a boost too, with up to 2x lossless zoom and 4x HighRes zoom, backed by AI enhancement to keep images sharp even when you’re pushed in close.
Stability-wise, Luna Pro uses 3-axis stabilization alongside AI-powered Deep Track and Rapid Focus to keep moving subjects sharp and centered, which matters a lot if you’re shooting solo. The detachable 2-inch OLED touchscreen makes it easier to frame shots from awkward angles, and quick controls like slide-to-start recording and twist-to-shoot cut down the time between grabbing the camera and actually getting the shot. Battery life covers up to 4 hours of shooting, and 47GB of built-in storage means you’re not constantly swapping cards, while direct pairing with Insta360’s Mic Series handles wireless audio.
For more advanced use, Luna Pro comes with Leica’s signature color profiles, including Leica Natural, Vivid, and Chrome, along with a set of cinematic filters for distinctive looks straight out of the camera. If you’d rather do more in post, 10-bit I-Log preserves extra color and highlight detail and supports ACES workflows for professional color grading, and built-in timecode makes syncing footage across multiple cameras a lot easier in tools like Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro. There’s also a POV Head Tracker accessory for immersive first-person shots, and NFC support lets compatible phones connect to the Insta360 app with a simple tap.
