Kota Kinabalu: Disgraced former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's son has compared his father's imprisonment to that of Nelson Mandela, the late South African leader who had been imprisoned for his fight against apartheid, according to a report.
Mohd Nizar Najib said his father will rise above his challenges like Mandela did, Malaysiakini reported.
This is God's way of elevating his father to a higher status, said Nizar, adding Najib will emerge better after serving his jail time.
Najib was sent to prison to serve his 12-year jail sentence after his final appeal was tossed by the Federal Court in in a multimillion ringgit misappropriation case linked to the 1MDB scandal.
