First up, we have the soundbars. The BRAVIA Theatre Bar 7 is equipped with nine speaker units in a 5.0.2-channel configuration, featuring up-firing and side-firing speakers for wider soundstage. It also includes Sony’s proprietary 360 Spatial Sound Mapping (360SSM) for room-calibrated audio, and as mentioned, it can be paired with optional subwoofers and rear speakers to extend bass and surround capabilities, with IMAX Enhanced content support.

Moving down the lineup, the BRAVIA Theatre Bar 5 features a 3.1-channel configuration with two distinct units – a soundbar, and a wireless subwoofer. Features include S-Force PRO Front Surround, Vertical Surround Engine and a “unique” upmixer system to deliver 3D audio for television and film content. Both soundbars support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats, can be controlled through compatible BRAVIA TVs or BRAVIA Connect app, and include Voice Zoom 3 for enhanced dialog clarity.

Both subs differ in driver layout, with Sub 9 featuring dual 200mm force-cancelling drivers that delivers all the lows with minimal distortions, whereas Sub 8 adopts a more conventional setup involving a single 200mm driver. Finally, the BRAVIA Theatre Rear 9 speakers include a 80mm up-firing driver that further enhances 360° audio soundstage.

It supports Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, and includes 4K 120Hz support with four HDMI 2.1 ports onboard.
