At the core of the Sony RX1R III is a 61MP full-frame Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a step up from the 42.4MP sensor found in its predecessor. The sensor provides 78% coverage with 693 phase-detection autofocus points, supported by the BIONZ XR image processor for cleaner images, wide dynamic range, and reduced noise.

Sony has also added its latest AI processing unit, enabling faster and more precise autofocus along with subject recognition for eyes, heads, and other details. As before, the RX1R III keeps to a fixed-lens setup, this time with a Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm F2 lens. Users can also switch between simulated 50mm and 70mm focal lengths via the Step Crop Shooting function for added flexibility.

The camera is built with a compact magnesium alloy body and updated grip design, paired with a textured finish for improved handling. It features multiple dials, a multi-interface shoe, a 2.36M-dot XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with 0.70x magnification, and a 7.5cm 2.3M-dot TFT LCD touchscreen. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI Type-D, a 3.5mm stereo jack, USB-C with Power Delivery, and support for UHS-I/II SD cards.

The Sony RX1R III is now available at authorised Sony retailers, outlets, and through the official Sony online store. It will be retailing for a whopping RM20,999.
