Kota Kinabalu: Soroptimist International Kota Kinabalu (SIKK) celebrated International Women’s Day by organising a forum focusing on equity in politics and ageing.
The forum was divided into two parts, namely Equity in Politics with three speakers, Datuk Aminah Ambrose, Yvonne Yong and Jo-Anne Henley-Rampas.
Panellists discussed the importance of women’s role in politics, the under representation of women politicians, the barriers faced, recommendations to encourage more women to be involved in politics, and how can men become better allies in advancing gender equity.
