Kota Kinabalu: The Society for the Sabah Heart Fund (SOSHF) is requesting a small piece of land from the State Government to build a halfway home for children with heart problems while seeking treatment in Kota Kinabalu, Kuala Lumpur or overseas.
Its President Datuk Eva Susau said since 40 years ago SOSHF has been sending children to Singapore and then to Kuala Lumpur for medical treatment. Many poor children went through the ordeal of travelling to a foreign land with no relatives or family support, she added.
She shared the story about a boy named Mikhael, 4, who hailed from Kampung Penulangon, Ranau, whose father is a rubber tapper with an inconsistent income of around RM400-500 per month.
