South Korea strongly advises its citizens in Lebanon to depart immediately as Israel intensifies ground attacks, with about 120 nationals still in the country.
SEOUL: South Korea’s foreign ministry has strongly advised its nationals remaining in Lebanon to leave the country immediately using available commercial flights.
The urgent advisory follows a significant worsening of the security situation due to Israel ramping up ground attacks in southern Lebanon.
Approximately 120 South Korean citizens are currently still in Lebanon according to official estimates.
South Korean Ambassador to Lebanon Geon Gyu-suk posted a stark warning on the embassy’s website, stating that choosing to stay could put lives at risk.
The South Korean Embassy in Lebanon is actively contacting all its nationals in the country to advise departure and provide flight information.
“We again urge our nationals in Lebanon to depart promptly on available commercial flights, taking into account the worsening security situation following the deployment of Israeli ground forces to southern Lebanon,” the ministry stated.
South Korea has imposed a travel ban on the southern parts of Lebanon that border Israel.
The rest of Lebanon remains under a Level 3 travel advisory, which urges all citizens to leave the country.
