South Park fans are all in agreement after Season 29 premiere episode

South Park is back for its 29th season and fans are loving the return to the “classic” series.

The season kickoff comes days after creators mocked Donald Trump’s recent attempts to rename various geographical locations by announcing that their show will be renamed South America.

Despite the fact that the show’s name (and location) change was a jab at Trump, the season premiere was less overtly political than most episodes from season 28. Focusing mostly on the arrival of e-bikes in South America, the episode didn’t include Trump or even many references to him. Instead, the adult cartoon appeared to return to its roots by killing off Kenny (again).

Kenny has died more than 100 times throughout the show’s history in a recurring classic gag. Viewers who tuned into the premiere episode were pleasantly surprised, all agreeing that the “old” South Park has returned.

“This episode is really feeling like classic south park ... i love it,” one person wrote on X while another agreed, “Finally a normal South Park episode!”

‘South Park’ kicked off its 29th season Wednesday night on Comedy Central (Comedy Central)

“DID SOUTH PARK ACTUALLY BRING BACK A KILLING KENNY AFTER LIKE 7-8 seasons hiatus,” a fan exclaimed while another wrote, “Finally a South Park episode without being about Trump, and a Kenny death. How long will it last?”

“South Park is on it's 2nd commercial and Trump hasn't showed up at all or even been mentioned!!!(Except in the intro),” another exclaimed.

“That was hilarious!!! Finally a normal episode of South Park. Hopefully it stays this way the rest of the season,” someone else wrote as another said, “This new South Park episode is one of the funniest ones they have released in awhile. Old South Park is back.”

“South Park still got the fastball. Tonight’s episode has been laughs and giggles all the way through. Also the animation looks awesome, the bikes are super smooth. Great job to the team,” another fan wrote.

The season premiere comes days after South Park won its fifth Emmy for Best Animated Show — its first since 2013 — after season 28 repeatedly mocked and belittled Trump.

South Park saw a huge spike in viewership as it took aim at Trump and his administration, with its satirical portrayal of the president becoming a recurring target throughout seasons 27 and 28, which aired last year.

On Instagram, the official South Park account celebrated its win at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys with a post yet again poking fun at Trump.

It featured Trump clutching an Emmy trophy — alongside the rest of the show’s characters — with his pants and underwear around his ankles.

“You finally got your Emmy,” read a message at the top of the image, while another along the bottom reminded fans: “New episodes September 16.”

South Park will continue airing every other week, with the next episode slated for September 30.
