The Saints had the better chances and more shots against United, given they played with 11 men vs. 10 for the entire second half at Old Trafford.
United midfielder Casemiro was shown a red card for a dangerous tackle on Carlos Alcaraz in the first half.
Post-game, Selles stated to Hampshire Live: "I got a look at it but I don't want to speak about the referee's performance.
"I think it's a waste of time. The referee makes a decision, sometimes it goes for you and sometimes it doesn't, that's it."
Southampton are still battling to survive relegation, as they are bottom of the Premier League.
