Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse admits he wants a break after ending their relegation season with a 4-4 draw against Liverpool.
The midfielder is expected to leave St Mary's over the summer.
He said, "I think it's a positive end to what's been a difficult season.
"It sums up our season. A slow start and you give yourselves a mountain to climb. Fortunately we were able to claw it back but yeah it sums up our season and where we're at at the moment.
"There's still a lot more quality to look at in the squad. We take the positives from today and it's important everybody has a good break and we come back strong next year.
"I'm emotional. It's tough when you care and love the club as much as I do. I've been here since I was eight years old. It's not easy to see what's unfolded this season.
"II just want to get away and have a break now, it's been a tough season. On a personal note, I feel as if I've done everything I can for this club in the time that I've been here. I look forward to getting a break and switching off.
"We as a club haven't been good enough. Not only as a team but everything around the club has not been up to standards. But the club will be back to where it has been."
