Spain coach Luis Enrique was delighted after their Nations League win in Portugal.
Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata grabbed a late winner for La Roja.
“Football is a wonderful sport in which wins are the best antidote to any state of depression or sadness," said Enrique. “I insisted we had the ball in the first half, and we had it, we made more than 400 passes. But most were in our half. We corrected that in the second half but we need to show the ball was ours in the first half. I had the impression that the goal would come. We are back in the final four and we'll enjoy it."
However, he won't enjoy drawing up a final squad list for the World Cup.
“The list is not 26, it's 40 or 50, it's a pleasure to coach players of so much quality. The pity is that some players will be out who deserve to go. I don't have the list clear, because it varies continuously, but I'll stick with the sensations of these players, who interpreted perfectly what we wanted to change."
