Speeding Tesla driver blames self-drive when pulled over by cops, asks to speak to supervisor

A speeding Tesla driver tried to blame the vehicle’s auto-assist function before asking to speak to the police officer’s supervisor when issued a ticket.

Footage shared by Parker Police Department on Wednesday (5 August) shows an officer stopping the car in Colorado after it was caught traveling at 64mph in a 45mph zone.

The driver maintained that he was not to blame. “I was in charge but I wasn’t driving,” he stated, before becoming angry when the officer repeatedly told him it was still his responsibility.

“You can blame the car all you want,” the officer said. “You’re in charge.”

He then asked to see the officer’s supervisor immediately over the speeding ticket.

Sharing the footage, the force said that driver assistance technology is designed to help you, not drive for you.
