Fresh doubts are emerging over Mason Mount's future at Chelsea.

The Daily Mail says talks with Mount were halted after the 24-year-old rejected an offer feeling it left him below what other senior players and new signings are earning at Stanford Bridge.

Mount has 18 months left on his current deal and wants to treble his 80,000-a-week wages but the club are offering significantly less than they are paying expensive recruits like Raheem Sterling.

Negotiations are expected to resume at some point and will be an interesting test case for the new Todd Boehly regime.

Having spent more than 300million on players in January alone, academy graduates like Mount are keen they are seen as an important part of the future and not taken for granted.

He is unsure of his status at the club after they broke the British transfer record to pay 107million for Enzo Fernandez and spend 89million on Ukraine winter Mykhailo Mudryk.
