Twenty-two National Anti-Drugs Agency clients passed all SPM subjects, achieving success while in rehabilitation through a special education access programme.

PUTRAJAYA: Twenty-two clients of the National Anti-Drugs Agency passed every subject they sat for in the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination.

The candidates were among 27 AADK clients who took the exams while undergoing the Institutional Treatment and Rehabilitation programme at Narcotics Addiction Rehabilitation Centres last year.

AADK director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh (pic) said 20 candidates were from PUSPEN Karangan in Kedah, with six from PUSPEN Papar in Sabah and one from PUSPEN Sungai Besi in Kuala Lumpur.

All clients are currently in the RPDI programme, which offers a special education module for those under 18.

The Client Education Access Programme provides structured classes taught by experienced teachers with support from District Education Office educators.

Ruslin said clients sat for six core subjects including Bahasa Melayu, English, Science and Mathematics.

He stated the PAPK programme aims to help clients secure their future through formal education.

This effort provides opportunities to pursue higher studies or skills certification through TVET courses.

“This can help them rebuild their lives while sustaining lifelong recovery,” Ruslin said in a statement.

He added the programme serves as a turning point in changing perceptions about second chances.

“It shows dropping out of school does not mean there is no opportunity for a new beginning.”
