The Telegraph says Liverpool are turning to Amorim with Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso now attracting interest from Bayern Munich.
Xabi has been Liverpool's priority, but it's understood he favours moving to Bayern.
Amorim, 39, has been attracting major interest from across Europe for the past 12 months.
