Kota Kinabalu: There are at least five species of eagles around the Babagon Dam and their presence plays a crucial role in balancing the local ecosystem.
Tan Gim Cheong, Bird Group Chairman, Nature Society (Singapore), said Babagon Dam is an essential habitat for these eagles, and it may even serve as a stopover for migratory eagles from abroad.
“I hope that there will be a collaboration to regularly observe the migration of eagles from abroad,” said Tan who is also an expert in eagle migration patterns worldwide.
He was speaking at the “Sabah Eagle Workshop: Identification and Observation Skills”, which was attended by 35 bird enthusiasts.
