Police attach the property of an alleged drug peddler in Srinagar.

Continuing its crackdown against drug trafficking under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, Srinagar Police on Saturday attached immovable properties worth more than Rs 3.5 crore belonging to three alleged drug peddlers involved in multiple NDPS cases.

According to police, in the first action, property worth nearly Rs 80 lakh belonging to an alleged drug peddler, Shahid Mushtaq of Barthana, Qamarwari, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

Police said investigations revealed that the property had been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking activities.

In another major action, Police Station Nowgam attached properties belonging to alleged drug peddler Mehrajuddin, who is involved in a case registered under the NDPS Act at Nowgam police station.

The attached assets include 18 marlas of land, a single-storey residential house and a cowshed located at Wagoora in Tehsil BK Pora. The total value of the property is estimated at around Rs 1.5 crore.

Police said investigations established that the assets had been procured through proceeds of the illegal drug trade and were accordingly attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

In a separate case registered at Police Station Saddar Srinagar, police attached a double-storey residential house worth approximately Rs 1.2 crore belonging to accused drug peddler Tawqeer Ahmad Mir of Rawathpora, Baghat Barzulla.

The attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, Chanapora, and independent witnesses.

Srinagar Police have and appealed to the public to cooperate in eradicating the drug menace from society and making J&K drug-free.
