
To ensure fool-proof security arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma on Friday chaired a preparatory-cum-security review meeting.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials and from other sister agencies. The pilgrimage is scheduled to begin from July 3 this year.
At the outset of the meeting, SSP Kathua directed monitoring of ‘dera’ movements, preventive action against gangsters, over-ground workers, history-sheeters before the pilgrimage begins.
She reviewed the yatra route, langar points, lodgement centres, vulnerable spots, critical infrastructure, religious and tourists places. Emphasis on round-the-clock domination, joint check-points and anti-sabotage checks along Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was laid.
She further stressed on seamless inter-district and inter-agency coordination for convoy movement, emergency response and intelligence sharing as well as installation of additional CCTV cameras at all important locations, langars and highway stretches.
The SSP also asked for 24×7 monitoring through the joint control room, verification drive including verifications of trusts and NGOs and their accounts, tenant/outsider verification, hotel checks. Medical, fire and emergency services were also asked to be pre-positioned. She directed the Special Operations Group for kinetic operation, besides combing operation on border grid and national highway.
The SSP stressed that there should be no lapse in security and that no inconvenience to yatris would be tolerated. She directed all officials to maintain the highest level of alertness.
