The victim, a Malay woman employed at a shop in Taman Sri Muda, was alone in the store when she was confronted by a foreign man. The violent assault took place around 11:40 a.m., just as the woman was waiting for her colleagues to arrive for their shift. According to reports, her brother, a 36-year-old Grab driver, was the one who alerted the police after being notified of the incident.
Surveillance footage from the shop, which has since circulated widely on social media, shows the shop in a deserted state with the victim in the kitchen. The suspect, initially seen loitering in front of the counter, suddenly attacked the woman with a sharp weapon, later identified as a paper cutter.
