Stalker found hiding under bed by armed police following hit and run

Armed police officers in Essex arrested a stalker after finding him hiding under a bed, after his car struck three people while speeding through the streets.

Joseph Wicks, 27, of Colchester, drove his Fiat 500 onto the pavement and hit pedestrians on Queen Street on 30 November last year before fleeing the scene. Police later located him hiding beneath a bed frame, where he was arrested.

While the incident was under investigation, Wicks committed further offences six months later, including stalking and harassing a woman.

On Friday, 31 July, he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and disqualified from driving for two years and six months.
